Our History and Mission

Founded in 1991, SOL began as a non-profit organisation dedicated to fulfilling the needs of educational exchange between the UK and Hungary. Registered as a charity in 1993, SOL has successfully operated for over 30 years, evolving its mission to meet the growing needs of the global educational community in Central and Eastern Europe.

Initially focussed on facilitating programmes into European countries, SOL has grown into an esteemed international school and training centre, dedicated to enriching the lives of students and teachers from a multitude of countries and diverse backgrounds.

At SOL we believe in the power of education to enhance lives and communities. Our mission is to provide high quality educational experiences that inspire and empower students and teachers alike.

The mission primarily focuses on supporting those teaching and learning English in Central and Eastern Europe, offering free or non-profit courses and workshops for Teachers in both Devon and across Europe.

For students, we provide short affordable cultural and language courses at our centre in the heart of North Devon, while staying with host families. Through our commitment to SOL and our mission, we seek to develop confident and capable individuals ready to make a positive impact.
